Participation Information
Several America 250 activities require advance registration or direct contact with the City of Von Ormy to ensure proper planning, recognition, and event coordination.
Registration Required Before the Event:
• Patriotic House and Business Decorating Contest
Residents and businesses must register to be included in the July 2, 2026 evening judging.
• Veterans Roll Call Recognition
Veterans and families are asked to submit information so local veterans can be recognized during the America 250 Celebration.
• Military Memorabilia Display
Residents wishing to loan military photos, uniforms, medals, memorabilia, or service-related items for the community display must contact the City in advance for coordination.
Featured During the Event:
• Freedom Wall
Community members will have the opportunity during the event to write messages, names, recognitions, and patriotic reflections directly on the Freedom Wall as part of the celebration.
Contest Entry During the Event:
• Kids Parade and Float Contest
Children and families may participate by entering decorated bikes, wagons, scooters, strollers, and small floats in the patriotic parade.
• Adult and Senior Patriotic Competition
Adults and seniors may participate in patriotic-themed entries celebrating American history, patriotism, and creativity.

Freedom Wall Community Recognition Display
The Freedom Wall is a special interactive display during the City of Von Ormy’s America 250 Celebration where community members can share messages of patriotism, remembrance, gratitude, and reflection.
During the event, residents, families, veterans, and visitors will have the opportunity to write directly on the Freedom Wall by adding names, messages, tributes, military recognition, family memories, or personal reflections about what freedom means to them.
The Freedom Wall is designed to create a community expression of patriotism and unity as we celebrate America’s 250th Birthday.
Examples may include:
• Honoring military service members
• Remembering loved ones
• Messages of gratitude for freedom
• Patriotic reflections
• Community pride messages
• Historical family connections
This display will be open throughout the event and available for all ages to participate.
No advance registration is required.
Patriotic Parade
As part of the City of Von Ormy’s America 250 Celebration, we are inviting children, families, adults, and seniors to participate in our Patriotic Parade held along the City Park Trail.
This family-friendly parade will take place around the park trail and is designed to encourage creativity, patriotism, and community involvement while celebrating America’s 250th Birthday.
Participants are encouraged to decorate bicycles, wagons, scooters, strollers, small ride-on toys, mini floats, patriotic costumes, themed displays, and historical presentations using red, white, and blue themes that reflect American pride, freedom, and history.
This competition allows all ages to take part in the celebration and showcase creativity, family participation, and community spirit while joining the patriotic parade around the park.
Parade and Float Categories:
• Most Patriotic
• Most Creative
• Best Overall
Families are encouraged to use flags, historical themes, patriotic symbols, and creative decorations that reflect Independence Day and the spirit of America 250.
Adult and senior participants may also enter patriotic costumes, decorated displays, themed presentations, or historical portrayals that celebrate American history and freedom.
No advance registration is required. Participants should arrive at the event check-in area prior to the parade start time, where they will be assigned an entry number, receive lineup instructions, and be directed to their parade position.
